Paul started to teach my 8 year old son two months ago and my son really is enjoying it ! We particularly like his individual reviews of his progress after every class ! Thank You Paul.

Paul has been an excellent teacher to my primary school aged children. He teaches them at a great pace and introduces them to many different songs. Paul also collaborates with the children and prepares them to perform in school music concerts. We have been very happy with the progress our children have made with Paul.

If you are like I was, trying to learn how to play guitar using YouTube, Paul is just what you need.
Before I started my lessons with Paul, I could play lots of little things but nowhere near a whole song.
Paul’s considerable music database with chords and tabs has something that everybody would like to play. With Paul’s help and support I am achieving my goals, I look forward to every lesson and he inspires me to practice to move on to songs that I never dreamt I would be able to attempt. Having guitar lessons with Paul is the best decision I have made to further my musical journey. I can’t recommend Paul Wood, enough.

At the ripe age of 23, I hit my early onset mid-life crisis and because I couldn’t afford a sport car I instead decided on an expensive guitar.Luckily Paul was there to teach me and save me from embarrassing myself when showing off my new expensive purchase to my friends by actually knowing how to play! But seriously, Paul is a really good teacher, he keeps things fun and lighthearted while being encouraging and helping to keep enthusiasm for the instrument even while learning the frustrating skills required of a master musician such as myself of course. 10/10 cheers Paul and I look forward to continuing our lessons forever more.

Paul has patiently provided excellent instruction for the past two years. I guess I would describe myself as a long term beginner having owned a guitar for decades with little or no progress. Paul has shown me the way to playing quite complex pieces I would never even have attempted on my own. He cleverly demystifies the road to guitar competence without clouding the way with the burden of unnecessary musical theory . I highly recommend him if, like me, you are stuck in the guitar playing doldrums.

Paul is a brilliant teacher. He’s been teaching my 15 year old daughter for 6 months now and the progress she’s made has been incredible. He’s patient, calm and makes lessons fun by allowing her to choose her favourite songs. I would highly recommend Paul to anyone wanting to learn guitar.

Paul has helped to build my son’s confidence. He knows the way to teach him that suits his learning style and needs. He has gone from complete beginner to being able to play some of his favourite songs! Paul has been very helpful and clear about what we need to do and how he feels my son will progress. It’s really helpful that we have been able to do zoom lessons too when face-to-face isn’t possible! Thank you for all your help and support Paul 🙂

Paul is a fantastic guitar teacher. He is working with my teenage daughter who is often anxious and unsure of herself and he is always positive and encouraging. She enjoys the lessons very much and is growing in confidence. Paul is very down to earth and relatable. I highly recommend guitar lessons with Paul for his knowledgeable instruction and his understanding and supportive manner.

Paul is an excellent guitar teacher, very professional and knowledgeable not to mention a great guitarist himself! He has been teaching two of my children for the last 4 years, they thoroughly enjoy their lessons and have both become keen guitarists. He is very helpful with any repairs, recommendations for equipment etc. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn guitar. Michelle, Saffron Walden.

Paul is a fantastic teacher. He is always encouraging and able to build up the motivation and confidence of learning guitar for my son. My son is confident enough to perform in front of us even though his skills are still pretty green – but that’s the point, he is not shy of his imperfection! A big thank you to Paul!
Shi Lam.
Paul is a fantastic teacher. He has inspired my son to play all kinds of music on guitar and opened his eyes (and ears!) to some really cool music. He’s also listened to my son and prepared guitar scores for sometimes random songs that my son has specifically requested. He sends me immediate feedback each week via WhatsApp on my son’s progress and encourages him to push himself and progress even further. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a guitar teacher in this area.

My son has had lessons both in school and privately with Paul for the past year and he has enjoyed every moment. Paul has a very encouraging and supportive teaching style which, combined with a vast songbook and endless patience has led to lots of impromptu gigs and a very happy boy! Paul is clear and helpful with administration, plus provides great lesson feedback each week. He really is an excellent teacher and musician and we 100% recommend.

I am having the most fabulous time learning to play the guitar with Paul as my tutor. Who would have thought that learning to play a musical instrument in your fifties could be so much fun ! Paul makes me feel like I am in control of my learning experience, but ensures that my understanding of the guitar is sound. He has such a wealth of experience and is an inspiring teacher. He makes every small achievement seem like a triumph. I have also noticed that he is excellent at nudging me towards a wider variety of musical styles.
He never makes the sessions feel hurried, yet the hour goes by in a flash.
Would I recommend him ? ABSOLUTELY.
Brenda Goldsmith.
I have been learning with Paul for several months now and have found him to be a kind, welcoming and patience music teacher. He is brilliant at engaging with students and their music tastes to make sure that they can play music that they like. He has a great music Database of hundreds of songs for students to play and if there is a song that’s not on there he will happy spend the time with students to figure out songs that they love. I would highly recommend Paul to everyone wanting to play guitar.

Paul has taught my son for five years now and my daughter for the last two and they both play guitar really well and love it! He is always patient with them and willing to come up with new songs or ideas to keep them interested. I would highly recommend him if you are looking for a guitar teacher that will make learning music fun, but also achieve great progress.

Paul Wood has taught guitar to my two teenage daughters for over a year. Both girls love the lessons, respect and like Paul no end and can now hold their own across a range of musical genres, often playing with their dad in the evenings. As well as being fun, upbeat, and always responding to the girls ( & my ) requests for particular songs etc. Paul is a reliable professional, who takes a keen interest in his students’ progress and inspires them to enjoy their practising ! Highly recommended.

Guitar lessons for (very) late starting adults as well as children! Paul is a patient and encouraging teacher, with a huge range of songs for his pupils to choose from, depending on their tastes and abilities. Even after only a couple of months, I have a repertoire of 6 or 7 rock and pop classics which I have chosen as they hark back to my 60s and 70s favourites. Thoroughly recommended.
Mary.
Paul came highly recommended and my son is really enjoying his lessons. He has inspired my son very much who picks up his guitar at home without me telling him to ! With Paul’s musical knowledge and extensive library of great music, my son looks forward to learning from him every week especially with his calmness and patience, what a great teacher !
Clara Lee.
Paul was recommended by a friend who was so enthusiastic about him. They were not wrong. He is knowledgable, considerate and good fun and my son looks forward to every lesson. Can’t recommend him enough. Top bloke !

I’ve been learning guitar with Paul for three years. I started out as a total beginner and now due to Paul’s patience, I have become an intermediate player. He has made the purchase of my Strat totally worthwhile.

Paul is organised and structured and blends encouragement and discipline to make the most of a session. He is technically strong but has a wide range of material to learn from – you feel like you make progress quickly. Highly recommended ! !

Paul is a thoughtful teacher he tailors his lessons to the skill and experience of his pupils, he has a vast amount of resources available from guitars to music data bases and website live performances. I would wholeheartedly recommend him as a teacher of all grades of guitar.

Our son Nicholas has learnt remarkably well with Paul and we put this down to Paul’s caring professional tutorial skills and excellent manner. Highly recommended.

Paul has been teaching my dyslexic son for almost 4 years (he is now 12). He is extremely patient with a child who lacks confidence and who easily gets frustrated. He is so calm and encouraging. His progress has been amazing. These are not lessons aimed at exams, just at developing a confidence to pick up the guitar and play what you love.
Sarah Fawcett.
My son finds Paul’s style of teaching in his words “really good and I feel comfortable with him”. Paul teaches at a pace to keep my son interested and is very encouraging. Very convenient having him teach at our home too.
